The Glowing Stone
This story is being told by an old man remembering back to his days of youth and how on a hot August night he and a Glowing Blue Stone came together one night that changed his life from that moment onward. He also tells us of how he meets the girl, Gwen, that would one day become his wife.
This book is a combination of the real world where children are limited by their disabilities and a dream world where they are unleashed to live any adventure they want by simply reading and/or looking at the pictures in a book. The time setting for this book is some where in the depression era so there are no computers or cell phones and not much else of the technology we have today.
It is with the aid of a glowing blue stone that appears one night as a meteor falling to earth and found by a 10 year old boy in a wheel chair. In this story the main action occurs in a make believe Camelot with knights, damsels in distress and dragons. Gwen and Edward with two of their friends become a team and face whatever comes their way.
With good dreams also come the nightmares via the dark stones that do what they can to destroy or capture the glowing blue stones. Included also are several other creatures that go bump in the night and the odd giant here and there. During the day the children also have to protect themselves from the people affected by a dark stone.
This book contains no profanity and no one is killed in it, even though it does contain a battle scene, no creature good or evil is harmed, they simply wake up. The violence is kept to a minimum and there are no graphic descriptions of the fighting.
